Fears, uncertainty and doubts
Also fondly known as FUDs, and used extensively in the sales and marketing world to spread negative information to influence perception, and manipulate behaviour and decision-making.
Which means we are surrounded by them every single day!
FUDs will creep in and out of our heads as we go through our daily lives without us realising. This by itself isn’t necessarily an issue, but sometimes you might find that these FUDs end up living rent free in your mind and they start to affect how you think, feel and act.
You might feel fear, uncertainty and doubt when you are starting something new, or you are feeling out of your comfort zone. Or maybe when you’re struggling to get something done, or you need to make a decision.
The personal development world pushes positivity, gratitude and affirmations as a way of bypassing our FUDs – apparently you can simply think yourself out of that fearful state! But it’s not really that easy… when you find yourself dwelling on your FUDs or when they’re impacting the things that you do, then you need to go deeper than saying a few affirmations.
So what else can you do?
Start becoming aware of anything that triggers fear, uncertainty, or doubt in your daily life, and be curious. What is your negative inner dialogue saying, and what do you imagine may happen?
When you can recognise the thoughts and emotions that are coming up when you experience FUDs, then you can do something about them. Recognise the patterns, delve into them, understand them and then disrupt them so you can move beyond them.
This is where hypnosis can be really helpful, as it allows you to drop into your subconscious mind, uncover the sources of your FUDs and bring them to your conscious mind for examination. When you do this, it helps you to do something about the real cause, instead of constantly running around in circles to manage or escape the symptoms.
A great way to do this is by using self-hypnosis to help uncover and let go of your FUDs. I’ve written a blog post with a step by step guide to self-hypnosis.
